At our full-care training facility in the Bradenton/Lakewood Ranch area, we strive to provide exceptional care in a professional, welcoming environment where both horses and riders can thrive. Conveniently located with easy access to Sarasota, Tampa, Parrish, Myakka, and the surrounding areas, our facility is designed with the comfort, safety, and everyday needs of our horses and clients in mind.

Our Facility

Our barn offers a variety of amenities designed to keep horses comfortable while making every day at the barn enjoyable and convenient for our riders:

• Spacious 12x14 and 12x24 stalls equipped with automatic waterers, fans, lights, and fly-spray systems

• A well-ventilated barn with a dedicated ventilation system to promote airflow and horse comfort

• 12 paddocks with automatic watering systems, allowing horses regular turnout and time outside

• A large, lit and irrigated riding arena suitable for lessons, training rides, course work, and show preparation

• Heated and cooled wash racks, three cross-tie areas, and concrete aisles for safe and convenient grooming and horse care

• A climate-controlled tack room with individual lockers, saddle racks, and personal storage

• A comfortable climate-controlled lounge and viewing room with a flat-screen TV, kitchen, and bathroom

• A PA and speaker system extending into the arena

• Surveillance throughout the barn for additional security and peace of mind

• Quality hay and grain fed multiple times throughout the day, with feeding programs tailored to the individual needs of each horse

Individualized Full-Care Boarding

We believe quality boarding is about much more than providing a stall and turnout. Every horse in our program is treated as an individual, with close attention paid to their routine, condition, nutrition, comfort, and overall well-being.

Our team sees our horses throughout the day, allowing us to notice the little things and communicate with owners when something doesn't seem quite right. From feeding and turnout to blanketing, fly protection, grooming needs, supplements, and coordinating routine care, our goal is to provide owners with the confidence that their horse is being thoughtfully cared for—even when they can't be at the barn themselves.

Boarding begins around 1,400.00 per month. At this time we do not offer full grooming packages so we are a tack yourself barn!

Riding Lessons

At Sammon Equestrian, our lesson program is about more than simply learning how to ride. We believe becoming a well-rounded equestrian starts with learning horsemanship from the ground up. Riders learn how to safely groom, tack, lead, handle, and care for their horses in addition to developing their skills in the saddle.

We welcome children and adults of all experience levels, from riders getting on a horse for the very first time to experienced riders looking to continue their education. With multiple experienced trainers and a selection of safe, knowledgeable lesson horses, we work to pair each rider with an instructor and horse appropriate for their current ability, confidence, and goals. Because the well-being of our horses is always a priority, lesson-horse availability is limited and enrollment is subject to an appropriate horse-and-rider match.

Starting Your Riding Journey

New riders begin in our Assisted Hour Lessons, which provide time before and after riding for hands-on instruction in grooming, tacking, horse handling, and proper aftercare. Riding instruction progresses at each student's individual pace—from the lead line and lunge line to confidently riding independently.

Riders joining us with previous experience begin with a one-hour evaluation lesson, allowing our trainers to assess their current skills and determine the best fit within our program.

Once students can independently and safely groom, tack, bridle, and handle their horse, they may transition into 30-minute riding lessons. At this stage, riders arrive early to prepare their horse independently and are mounted and ready to meet their instructor at their scheduled lesson time.

From First Rides to Bigger Goals

Our lesson horses provide a wonderful foundation for riders to learn proper horsemanship, develop confidence, ride independently, and progress through introductory jumping and crossrails. Our lesson horses have individual schedules and workloads, so availability may vary based on rider size, experience level, and the appropriate horse-and-rider match.

As riders become more experienced and wish to progress beyond the capabilities of our lesson-horse program, we typically recommend leasing or purchasing a horse or pony appropriate for their next goals. This allows riders to continue developing their skills, jump higher, ride more consistently, and build a partnership with one horse.

Leasing or ownership isn't only for riders who want to compete. Some riders simply want to ride and jump recreationally at a more advanced level, while others choose to pursue showing. For those interested in competition, we offer opportunities to progress from local schooling shows through rated competition.

Whether your goal is to learn to ride, enjoy horses as a hobby, develop into a competitive rider, or eventually have a horse of your own, our trainers are here to help you find the path that fits you.

Training & Show Team

At Sammon Equestrian, we offer monthly training programs for both horse and rider, combining individualized lessons and professional training rides to create a program tailored to each partnership. Whether your goal is to build confidence, refine your skills at home, move up a division, or compete at a higher level, our trainers focus on developing strong fundamentals and creating confident, capable horse-and-rider teams.

Our program specializes in hunters, jumpers, and equitation, with training opportunities for riders at a variety of levels. We believe successful showing starts with consistent preparation at home, which is why our program emphasizes regular instruction, thoughtful horse development, and setting realistic goals for both horse and rider.

Sammon Equestrian Show Team

Our show team welcomes qualified riders of varying ages, experience levels, and competitive goals. Some riders may be attending their first schooling show, while others are working toward goals at rated and AA competition. We believe showing should be an opportunity to put the skills developed at home into practice, gain valuable experience, build confidence, and enjoy being part of a supportive team.

Sammon Equestrian typically attends approximately nine horse shows each year, offering a thoughtfully selected schedule that may include local schooling shows as well as rated competitions at premier Florida venues such as World Equestrian Center (WEC), TerraNova Equestrian Center, and other venues throughout the state.

Show participation is based on trainer approval and horse-and-rider readiness. To be eligible to join the Sammon Equestrian Show Team, riders must be consistently enrolled in our lesson and training program, including regular lessons and appropriate training rides for their horse. This allows our trainers to properly prepare each combination before entering the show ring and helps ensure that both horse and rider are competing safely and confidently at an appropriate level.

For riders who do not currently own a horse, showing opportunities may occasionally be available through an appropriate lease or other arrangement, depending on horse availability, rider experience, and trainer approval.

Show Preparation & Support

Preparing for a horse show involves much more than the days spent at the competition. Our team works with riders at home to develop the skills, consistency, and confidence needed to be successful when they step into the ring. Depending on the horse and rider, preparation may include private lessons, training rides, course work, flatwork, horse fitness and conditioning, and individualized show preparation.

At the show, our trainers assist with schooling, warm-ups, course planning, class selection, and coaching throughout the competition. Our goal is not simply to chase ribbons, but to help riders become knowledgeable, confident horsemen and competitors who understand how to properly prepare themselves and their horses.

Show Fees & Expenses

Because every competition is different, show pricing varies based on the venue, location, duration of the show, hauling requirements, number of horses and riders attending, and the level of competition.

Show expenses may include trainer/coaching fees, hauling, horse care, entries, stalls, lodging, shared staff expenses, and other venue-specific costs. A detailed estimate can be provided for each show so riders and families can understand the anticipated expenses before committing.
